Rooted in blues and soul, Caisha Sprout took to the Garage Band stage in 2022 to give a performance that completely raised the energy of the night. The sun was setting, the crowd was energised, and with iconic views of Fed Square surrounding them, Caisha and her talented band brought her lyricism and story-telling to life in a way that had our Garage Band audience completely enthralled.
We got to chat to Caisha Sprout about her Garage Band experience and what she's been up to in the world of music since then.
What have you been up to, music-wise, since Garage Band?
I've been getting up to a bunch of things! Playing lots of gigs, with some notable ones being Sofar Sounds Dubai, a headline show at Brunswick Artists Bar and most recently at The Night Cat! I have also been working on new music to put out into the world this year...
Have you found any new opportunities that have come as a result of being a part of GB 2022?
Garage Band actually reunited me with an old friend of mine, Stella Who; I hadn't seen her in over 6 years so that was super special. I played a headline show at Brunswick Artists Bar and I got her down as a support act!
What would you say to any young musicians thinking about applying for Garage Band 2023?
Do it! It was honestly such a great experience, 10/10 would recommend it. The whole lead-up to the day, getting to know the other artists and bands, getting up there to perform and just getting to watch everybody else shine was really special! I'm super grateful for the experience.
Since being a part of Garage Band, Caisha has continued to make waves in the Melbourne music scene and we can't wait to see what's to come. Make sure you follow Caisha on Instagram (@caishasprout) to come along for the journey!
