Eleanor Jawurlngali launches her EP at Melbourne CBD venue The Toff in Town as a part of ALWAYS LIVE AT with special guests

Eleanor Jawurlngali Dixon is a Mudburra and Garrawa woman from Marlinja in the Northern Territory, a small outback community almost exactly halfway between Alice Springs and Darwin.

She is a member of the highly critically acclaimed Kardajala Kirridarra and the father/daughter duo Rayella. In 2024 she has appeared at the St. Kilda Festival, Mona Foma and the NIMAs and supported Kim Gordon and The Dirty Three.

Her music melds the contemporary with the traditional, singing in both traditional languages and English. Her voice is beautiful and ethereal and together with her collaborators Mick Turner form The Dirty Three and multi award winning cellist Stephanie Arnold, they bring the listener on a journey following the spirit of the music grounded in ancient language, deep listening, and imagination.

Eleanor Jawurlngali launches her self-titled EP at Melbourne CBD venue The Toff in Town as a part of ALWAYS LIVE AT. Eleanor's EP will be released on November 29, the same day as the show at The Toff. With lead single S.P.I.R.I.T to be released 30 October.

Ray Dimakarri Dixon, a proud leader in Australia’s Indigenous music scene, grew up singing in one of the world’s oldest languages, Mudburra, now only spoken by 50 people. Originally a member of 80’s legends Kulimindini Band, in 2012 Ray joined with his daughter Eleanor to form Rayella – a family music group singing in Mudburra and English – and won national and international acclaim. Continuing to write and record music under his

traditional name ‘Dimakarri’ has seen Ray, a passionate protector and custodian of Mudburra Country, channel the fire that fuels him into his latest 5 song EP release. A sensitive, emotive and passionate performer, any chance to listen, learn and be captivated by his remarkable music is not one to be missed.
