ALWAYS LIVE 2024 Playlist

Fan favourites ahead, proceed with caution

By Always Live

The ALWAYS LIVE program is out and with over 280 artists playing across Victoria this November and December there’s a LOT to get through! We’ve created a cheat sheet playlist to soundtrack your travels through the program. There are plenty of old favourites making appearances, and new ones waiting to be discovered, below are a few of our highlights, plus the full playlist.

Starcrawler – I Love LA

Luliepalooza, Lulie Tavern → Saturday 23 November

Formed in the City of Angels in 2015, known for their high-octane live performance and theatrical, iconic frontwoman Arrow de Wilde, Starcrawler have built a reputation as modern legends of the rock n’ roll scene. I Love LA is the perfect encapsulation of the band; punchy, raw and a raucous good time.

Sarah Blasko – Bothering Me

Theatre Royal, Castlemaine → Thursday 5 December
Northcote Theatre, Northcote → Friday 6 December

Sarah Blasko: what a voice, what a writer. Her emotionally resonant music has captured the hearts and imaginations of Australians since her breakout album The Overture & the Underscore in 2004. She’s shared a new track ‘Bothering Me’, a gorgeous, heartbreaking ballad framing her unmistakable smoky vocals.

Baker Boy – KING

Blaktivism, Hamer Hall, Melbourne → Friday 22 November

When we say “King, you dropped this”, we’re referring to Baker Boy’s new heater ‘KING’. Out this week and adding to the laundry list of bangers in his already impressive catalogue, ‘KING’ showcases Baker Boy’s signature style: confident, catchy and undeniably danceable.

Full Flower Moon Band – Roadie

End Of The Line, Playne St, Frankston → Saturday 30 November

Full Flower Moon Band are electrifying, as if music itself flows through the veins of front woman Kate ‘Babyshakes’ Dillon. Their music is gritty, bold and immediate, this band has a swagger that needs to be experienced live. Luckily, we have you covered.

The Offspring – Light It Up

Forum Theatre, Melbourne → Sunday 24 November

Punk stalwarts The Offspring never miss; case in point new single ‘Light It Up’. It has everything you love about an Offspring song – drum fills galore, gang vocals and thrashy guitars, with an undeniable quality that makes you feel like you could kick down a door.

Waxahatchee – Right Back To It (ft. MJ Lenderman)

Forum Theatre, Melbourne → Thursday 5 December

Musical project of Katie Crutchfield, named after the Waxahatchee Creek near her childhood home in Alabama. This year, she released Tiger’s Blood - a honied, alt-country dissection of the minutia and anxieties of real life.

Kasbo, Keiynan Lonsdale – Lay It On Me

The Evelyn, Melbourne → Saturday 7 December

Keiynan Lonsdale’s collab with Kasbo is a glittery exploration of the fragility of love. The push and pull of will-we-won’t-we. Keiynan’s vulnerable lyrics glide over Kasbo’s playful synth – a confounding juxtaposition that makes for one hell of a summer anthem.

Anthony B – World A Reggae Music

Jamaican Music and Food Festval, Seaworks → Saturday 7 December

Legendary reggae ambassador Anthony B will join a slew of incredible artists for Jamaican Music and Food Festival. Having built his impressive, three-decade career on addressing issues of economic and social issues of Jamaicans though his music and his incredible high energy performances, Anthony B will be having you dancing and thinking simultaneously.
