Sami is an RnB rapper from Melbourne who's been making music since the age of 13. In October last year he was part of Garage Band's Class of 2022, delivering an epic performance.
His set was packed with energy, charisma and undeniable talent, and only proved to be another stepping stone in Sami's journey towards putting his name on the map. We spoke to Sami post-Garage Band about what he's been up to since, and what he's got in store for the future.
What was a standout moment of the the Garage Band experience?
Throughout the whole event what I appreciated the most was talking to the other bands and connecting with like-minded people.
What have you been up to, music wise, since then?
I haven’t been releasing tracks, but I have been working hard building a deep back catalogue of singles - with the first one coming out on the 1st of September. At the same time, I’ve been doing a bunch of shows and just locked in my first festival performance at Spilt Milk this summer.
Have you found any new opportunities that have come as a result of being a part of GB 2022?
Not long after, I performed at a gig for the band Atomic Entourage, who I met at Garage Band.
What would you say to any young musicians thinking about applying for Garage Band 2023?
It’s a perfect opportunity to showcase your sound to a great crowd and join an environment of like-minded people who are doing the same thing you’re doing.
A gig with fellow GB Alumni, a set at Spilt Milk and the promise of new music ... we're confident everyone will be hearing Sami's name a lot more very soon and if his performance at Garage Band 2022 was anything to go by, we're counting down the days.
